Zsombor Pólya

Budapest, 1989

Zsombor Pólya’s artworks are characterized by a conceptual way of thinking. With his artistic products he mainly examines the changing context of the artwork, the changing social role of the artist and the artwork itself, and the connection between art trade and money. His way of creating is characterized by humor and inventiveness, which are, in most of the cases, based on the self-contradictions of the visual art scene. His attitude is characterized by the twisting of different situations, intentionally „frivolous” counterbalancing of „serious” content, or the grotesque presentation of certain works of art and artistic acts. His works are typically created with analog techniques, this was carrying rich diversity in terms of genre. In addition to photography and video, he also uses traditional techniques of fine art.
